The Perfect Keto White Russian That The Dude Abides

Learn to make the very best Keto White Russian.

To paraphrase Jeff Bridges’ famous character “The Dude” from The Big Lebowski, if you don’t like a white russian, then yeah, well, you know, that’s just, like, your opinion, man. Not only is The Big Lebowski one of my favorite movies but the classic white russian is one of my favorite beverages.

It’s the perfect blend of rich creaminess, sweetness and just enough of a bitter kick to cut through those flavors and leave you with a perfectly balanced drink. The problem that I, and my other keto folks, find is that Kahlua is very high in carbs making it near impossible to enjoy this drink while on Keto… or so we thought. We had to make some changes but we found the perfect way to make a delicious keto white russian that even The Dude would abide!

Ingredients

  • 1 oz vodka (we like Absolut vodka)
  • 2 oz low carb coffee liqueur
  • 2 oz heavy cream
  • 2 or 3 cubes of ice

How to make a delicious keto white russian?

This is a pretty simple drink to make and certainly doesn’t take any crazy bartending skills. Start with a thick, old fashioned glass and fill it with ice, two or three cubes will do but it’s up to you.

Next pour in one part or once ounce of your keto coffee liquor. If you can find keto coffee liquor that’s great, but if you can’t then check out our easy to make homemade keto coffee liquor recipe here.

Then you want to add one part (one ounce) Absolut Vodka.

Finally, finish off with one part (one ounce) of your preferred heavy cream. The cream should sit on top of the liqueurs with beautiful little ribbons forming.

The drink is ready to serve, if you want to stir the drink together, but i think it’s perfect as is with the different flavors hitting you at different times.

Why Absolut Vodka?

Of course, you can just use whatever vodka you prefer but we think Absolut vodka just hits a little bit different. The swedish brand is wonderfully smooth and even has a hint of cream soda to it that perfectly complements this drink to a tee.

When to drink a keto white russian?

White Russians with Kahlua are pretty sweet and have traditionally been served either as a dessert or an after dinner treat. That’s usually the way I like to enjoy them but depending on how sweet you make your keto coffee liquor, you could just have your white russians as your five o’clock drink of choice. Ultimately, how you enjoy your drinks is totally up to you.

Can you change the proportions?

The beauty of the White Russian is despite its complex flavors, the recipe itself is very simple. And because the recipe is so simple, it’s easy to make adjustments to tailor the drink to your preferences. While we prefer a little less vodka to coffee liqueur and cream, you may be just the opposite, so feel free to experiment.
